Dust off those dancin’ shoes, tune up those instruments, and warm up those vocal cords; it’s almost time for spring auditions for the 26th annual Senior Variety Show. Any Story County resident or employee who is 60 years of age or older, is encouraged to try out for this year’s production, “Antics Roadshow.” COVID-19 provided quite a detour for this show but performances are now set for Friday, August 19, at 7:30 pm and Saturday, August 20, at 2:00 pm at Ames City Auditorium.
An informational meeting/social for curious newcomers and past senior performers will be Thursday, February 17th from 3:30-5:00 pm at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1416 20th Street, in Ames. Show director Julie Minot will be on hand to talk about her creative vision for the upcoming show at 4 pm. Vocal numbers, instrumentals, skits, story-telling, and dance presentations around the theme of antics or roads, streets, traveling, etc. would be appropriate. (You may even want to check Google to get those creative juices flowing.) Acts should be no more than 3 minutes long. If you can’t attend the social, please email Julie at juliegminot@gmail.com or call 515-292-9394 with any questions you might have.
Auditions will be Saturday, April 2, 12:30-2pm and 2:30-4pm. Those who are putting a finishing touch on their acts will be seen a second time on Saturday, May 7, 12:30-2pm and 2:30-4pm, all at Northminster Presbyterian. If these times don’t work for you, the director will try to accommodate.
If you’ve had a hankering to perform on stage, now is your time. It’s a great way to meet people, share your talent, have fun, and raise money for senior projects. For more information please visit us on Facebook and at www.seniorvarietyshow.org
